Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I’m Maddy, I’m type two from 16 yrs. not well controlled.
My last blood test showed 96 ml. The hospital are not happy.
I’m hoping to make it better.
Looking into LCHF or Keto.

I was diagnosed with Hba1c of 91 and told that I was a very bad diabetic.
I'm afraid that it is probably all down to the starches and sugars you are eating - cut right back on them and the problem is likely to just go away.
Has no one given you that advice before?

Hi Maddy welcome to the forum,🙂 I am Type 1 (T1) started with a HbA1c of 156 but taken note of my wonderful friends on the forum got that down to 48 in 3 months. I reduced my carbohydrates by 80% and am still only on less than 75g per day thanks @Drummer. After 16 yrs you should be a lot lower now, are your hospital team helping you? are you on medication,? how is your diet?. Are you testing?

Hi Maddy, welcome! You have come to the right place, loads of info and support here from real people with real experience, not text book blurb! Low carb is definitely the best option for type 2, take some time to read as much as you can here then ask any questions you might have 🙂

Hi everyone and Thankyou for the welcome.
Yes I do test when I remember. I was expecting it to be high.
My diet isn’t good. Whenever I try to eat salads and veg stuff it upsets my Ulcerative Colitis.
So I have to be careful.
I spent two months in hospital last time it flared up.
I nearly lost my colon.
I was advised to cut out all bad foods. I suppose I’m a bad diabetic and cheat.
I’ve always found it had to give up food I like.

I listened to a pod cast today on The Wellness Cafe. com about Keto foods and coconut oil etc.
I found it very interesting.
I wish I had more willpower as I’ve seen that many diabetics loose a lot of weight and get their sugars down. Take care all.

Hi all sorry I’ve not been around.
I’ve managed to lower the hb1c to 79.
The nurse put me in Ozempic this year.
So they are happy.
But I’m so sleepy all the time.
So I’m having a check up in Jan
Also I had a video chat with colorectal consultant and he’s ordered me an iron infusion in Jan.
Merry Christmas all x

If you’ve had an iron infusion ordered then I’m guessing your iron levels are extremely low and that would make you feel so tired. Hopefully you feel better after the iron infusion
