At risk of diabetes
Hello Rox from Scotland here, trying to come to terms with being told I am pre diabetic. Feeling more than a little worried.

Hi ya ! Well you've had the wake-up call then - so what are you going to do about it?

You ought to try to improve your diet - by cutting down on the carbohydrates you eat (ie not only sugar, but spuds in all their glory, fleshy, sweet and juicy fruits, and bananas, rice, pasta and absolutely everything else made with flour) and upping your exercise. (In other words in my local parlance - use your gob less and your legs more!)

However GPs sometimes don't fully engage their brains over-well …. so under what circumstances did your blood test which showed this, occur? And what was the result of the test? Was a number actually mentioned?

Hi Rox and welcome to the forum, you will get lots of help and support here. Everyone who is told they are pre or full diabetic feel just the same as you, I know I was totally shocked as not in my family, never been overweight and didn’t feel ill in any way. Don’t worry, you will soon learn as trophywench says, that there is lots you can do to help yourself. As you are pre diabetic you probably haven’t got far to go to get your blood glucose numbers down and hopefully stop yourself from becoming a ‘full’ diabetic. Have a good look around the site and I’m sure you will have lots of questions. Feel free to ask them as we are all here to help.

Hello Rox welcome to the forum.🙂 as Jenny says get those feet, muscles working. Cut the c**p that goes into your mush, read and learn from this wonderful forum, ask any question but diet and exercise will be part of your regime to keep outside of that figure that will allow you to be a proper Diabetic. Take care we are here for you.
