hi my name is bob. i live in blackpool am married and have 2 boy's. i suffer from diabetes type 2 at the moment but might have gone to type one, worried sick bout it. just thought i would say hello to everyone.
First off, don't panic. That's nearly what happened to me too. At that level there's a good chance the doctor will put you on Metformin and possibly something like Gliclazide too. You can help yourself a lot by cutting out all the sweet stuff and cutting down on things like bread, pasta, rice and spuds. When you have any try and make it whole grain as far as possible. Eat loads of veg and watch out for cereals as many of them can send your blood sugar up. As can certain fruits like bananas and grapes.
Unfortunately, there's no quick fix, it's a lifestyle and you make of it what you will for the most part.
Cutting back on the sweet stuff but also on the starchy carbohydrates - i.e. cereals, bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, pizza etc usually leads to a big improvement in blood glucose levels - and quickly too.

Hi bobbed, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear your news, try not to worry (not easy, I know) until you have heard what the doctor has to say. When you say you 'may be Type 1', do you mean that you think you may have to start using insulin? If so, there are lots of people here who know exactly what you are going through and can offer support and help in dealing with it. You're bound to be feeling very upset at the moment, and the high blood sugar levels will not be helping - but as you learn more you will become more at ease and able to manage your diabetes without it dominating your life.
Let us know how things go with the doctor, and don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have 🙂
thanks again it's really nice to hear that people are there for you and your not alone. will let you know tomoz what doctor say's. it was hospital that said i might have to start taking insulin.
