Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Just thought I'd introduce myself - I'm a type 1 diabetic and have been for 28 years (since I was 3). I was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago with ketoacidosis, having caught a virus. Feeling fine now (although I'm a tad obsessive about my levels!!) Just thought it'd be nice to speak to others...

Hi NicNic, welcome to the forum 🙂 DKA is nasty, glad to hear you are OK.

Thank you!! Was pretty scary but back to normal now..if I ever have been normal!!🙂

Hi Nic - welcome to the forum. Glad you are feeling better now, bit scary though. I have had DKA once it was horrid.

Welcome NicNic Sorry to hear you have been so ill and glad that you are on the mend now. Take care Sheena🙂

Hi from Newcastle, NicNic. Nice to have another NorthEastern resident on here. Do you go to the clinic at NGH? I've found them to be pretty good in general. Sorry to hear about you being in hospital, hope things are looking up now. Hope to see you around here some more...

No, but we could always start one! I never tried joining a Diabetes UK group here as I'd heard they tend to be for older people - don't know if that's right or not. We could just meet up for a glass of wine or a cuppa somewhere... possibly Steff and Vanessa (also on here) may be interested too, as they're local. I promise I'm not an internet weirdo...:D

Yeah, I think they usually are. I went to a few along with my mum when I was little and I thought it was older people. (Then again when you're young you think everyone from 13 up is old!!) I just think it'd be nice to meet with people who kind of know how you feel...promise that I'm not an internet weirdo either!!!!! :D🙂:D
