Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
hi I am Type 1 but not diagnosed until I was 56 - 4 years ago. It Took a quick 4 stone weight loss and a private consultation to confirm all the anti bodies. I have been managing reasonably ok on novo rapid and levemir and have been following the Dafne protocols. However recently glucose levels have gone nuts.
I have increased total levemir from 24 units a day ( split) to 32 units a day and now novo rapid ratios are up to 2.5 units to 1 cp. this seems so horribly high compared to everyone else
Still can’t get into decent target areas
Anyone else dose at these levels?

Thing is.. if you need those doses to get the effect you want then they're not too high.. they are just right.
Having said that.. the recent heat played with my bg which seems to be because the basal insulin was not behaving so sometimes the bolus was a bit..unusual..
Outside effects can mess things up a bit it seems..

Hi @MickyC , welcome to the forum.
So many factors can affect levels, and as Christophe mentioned, a few people have found the recent hot weather to be having an impact.
The important thing is really that the adjustment is correcting your levels, although it is understandable that an increase can feel concerning. What sort of BG levels are you getting since you adjusted? What targets are you aiming for, or what range were you in before it all went 'nuts'?

My Hba1c was up to 8.6 then I followed Dafne principals to increase levemir to 24 units a day and morning and evening ratios to 1.5 units per 10 grams carbs which resulted in stable HBA1c of 7.1 about 5 months ago. Since then it all changed again and pre meals I was 11 to 14. In spite of weighing carbs etc.Just aiming for standard pre meal levels of 5.5 to 6.
I have followed all steps to slowly increase doses but still not stabilised yet - seems such a big loss in insulin sensitivity
