Relationship to Diabetes

Hi there. I'm a newbie and hoping to get inspiration and advice from all you lovely folk. I'm going to try and control my type 2 diabetes through diet and exercise so fingers crossed
 
Hi @Anni welcome to the club no one wants to be in, exercise is good, diet, you need to drop the carbs..that's both the simple sugars also the more complex carbs.., so try get to a low carb diet

Hi Anni, welcome 🙂 as Martin has said, carbs are our enemy, our body turns them into glucose so they are as bad as sugar itself o_O Best advice I can offer if you want to control this by diet, is to read, read as much as you can on here as you will find everything you need to know on these pages. Testing is also key, it’s how you establish what foods work or don’t for you, so testing before your meal, then two hours later will show how well your body copes with whatever you ate, you can then tweak, adapt or avoid 😛 Keeping a food diary really helped me with this, it was easy to see patterns forming.
Be careful with fruit, rule of thumb would be two small pieces a day but again we are all different, I can only take one or I spike 😳 Remember also, if you are going low carb, you will need to go high (good) fat, that way your body will use the fat as energy as it would have with carbs. :D
