It’s tough to get Lorna because it’s not just the condition or diagnosis but what level of help/supervision is required and it has to be pretty substantial. It’s always worth appealing if you think you have grounds. Maybe CAB could assist you although they are pretty stretched at the moment with welfare rights work.

This is a self test but you’ll find their assessment is much tougher. It’s helps to work through it though to see if she’d get the qualifying scores.

I thought it wouldn't be easy as i read up bf she went for her assessment. many thanks for your reply i was thinking of giving them a call too

Dealing with any type of benefits is a nightmare; two days trying to obtain Universal Credit for my brother. No wonder some people give up and don't bother claiming what they're entitled to. My sister met a man on the park bench she passes on the way to taking great niece to school. He'd spent the night there after applying to local council for help the day before. They said they were unable to help him. He had a suitcase with a sleeping bag in it. He was very well spoken. Said "I've worked for forty years..." :(

We had to go to CAB in the end. Hope you get sorted.

Welcome to the forum, @lorna. I'm guessing that your daughter is over 16 years, as until age 16, children are entitled to claim Disability Living Allowance - or, rather, their parents / guardians claim on their behalf. As they are completely different benefits, and serve different age groups, having been entitled to DLA is no predictor of getting PIP. In fact, unless people with type 1 diabetes have additional health problems, they are very unlikely to get PIP. However, it is always worth seeking advice from benefit advisors eg at Citizens Advice or some local councils. If you have only just received the letter of rejection, then submit a request for mandatory reconsideration as soon as possible and start collecting evidence in case you need to go to appeal tribunal.
