wow many years then, have a look around the pumping section on here it may help you with any questions you have, also some are on pumps or waiting to go on them so you wont be alone on that one x

Hi Amanda & welcome. I am on the waiting list for a pump at the moment, have you found yours has improved your control/quality of life?

You will get the hang of the forum stuff quickly, this was the first one I joined and now I am addicted.

Hi Rachel, my pump has really helped, was having really bad hypos at night , takes abit of getting used to but i,d be lost without it .🙂

Hi and welcome. I think like myself (42+ years) you would have started on animal insulin. The synthetic ones give me problems Are you by any chance pumping animal insulin?

Hi, i use humalog (INSULIN LISPRO) in my pump, are you on a pump?.🙂

No. I am having thoughts about it but both consultants and NHS Trusts are very reluctant to even consider a pump when people are on animal insulin. Many years ago I changed over to 'human' insulin and lost nearly all signs of hypos. It was a real fight to change back as it was at a time people tended not to believe you. As a result of the then belief that 'human' insulin was suitable for everyone one person who lived nearby died of a severe hypo and a friend's father lost his driving licence. Only one member of the medical profession hasever apologised to me. Did you have a straightforward switchover?

Hi there, it's nice to have you join the forum. Can I ask what were your reasons for going on the pump, and how have you found it? My consultant mentioned it to me as a possibility, if my HBA1c hasn't improved by my next appointment (currently 7.8%) and part of me thinks it would be great, but part of me thinks it would be too many things to vary and I'd never get it right, so I'd be interested to hear how you find it.

Hi Amanda, welcome to the forum.

Hi, it took about 6 months from saying yes to a pump and me getting it, not bad from reading some of the comments. My switchover was quite straight forward , in the last two years from being on the pump have had no hypos if i start to dip abit i get plenty of warnings(something i had lost years ago). I have good pump surport from the hospital which helps alot, my Gp practise even though are great, no nothing ,abit like A&E departments or main stream wards , it's abit like oh my god 'pump' panic. 🙂

Hi, like you i was in two minds but was having severe night time hypos and trying to work full time something had to give. For me it's been realy positive, yes it,s hard work at first but it's given me more freedom🙂.
