Hi, I'm Marie.
My mother has diabetes (Type 2, diagnosed I think about two years ago). My nan, granddad and uncle have all had or suffer from diabetes too. Which only increases my personal risk.
My reason for being here is partly to learn what I can about diabetes as a support to my mum and also to learn in general about it.
I'm a medical student, and through a project and my own family experiences I have learnt there are two sides to every story and I am interested to learn about the issues diabetes sufferers face with regard to their treatment and the (conflicting) information available to them. (My mum gets frustrated about the fact that she cannot get test strips from her GP, as she feels that this gives her greater control.)
I look forward to learning from you all.
Best wishes,
Marie
