New to the forum, but not diabetes.

Been type 1 since diagnosis in October 1996. Injections until January 2015 when transferred over to a pump (Accu Chek Combo).

This was the best move that I've made. HBA1C improved but still some tweaking to more perfect results.

Look forward to some good discussions and learning.

Hi Dave, Welcome.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.

Hi Dave - pumps do help no two ways about it. I had my Combo in 2009, so I had a new one in 2015 and went for the Insight instead. 6 months ago I was expecting an A1c in at least the high 40s since I hadn't done anything different as far as I knew - instead of which it was 46. I asked my DSN to repeat that and then demanded 'How the hell did I do that?' LOL In December - it was 45.

There used to be someone on here whose tagline was that the only time they'd get her pump off her was when she was stone cold and they prised it out of her stiff fingers.

I feel much the same!

Hi Dave

Hi Dave

Welcome. I am another pumper using the Accu Chek Combo. Excellent service and support and a very good pump. When I first got it I thought an annual check of Basra rates was what I needed, until I came on here. I now check more often and tweak things as necessary. I am not sure I will ever get it perfect (in fact I know I will never do that) I just do the best I can, and learn from so many others on here. With their help I have certainly reduced my after meal spikes and also greatly I improved my HbA1c.

Do ask any questions that come to mind. Someone will come along with a response, and lots of others of us will benefit form each other's questions.

Thanks for the messages everyone. The pump is absolutely the best thing that I have ever done!
Bit rocky over christmas but normal service will be resumed soon.

Basal testing over the next couple of weeks to look for more tweaks.
