Type 2
Hello,
My name is Shelagh and I am marginally type 2 diabetic. I have been on an NHS provided course but met a very kind lady on a weaving course who told me about the forum.
I am looking forward to learning how best to manage my condition.
🙂🙂🙂🙂

Hi Shelagh and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Did you find that course useful? I just replied to another newbie saying that my knowledge of current NHS courses is way out of date (given that I went on a Diabetes Xpert course over 6 years ago now).

Andy

Hi Shelagh, welcome to the group

Thank you everyone for your welcome.
I found the NHS course much more helpful than my GP's nurse, who kept telling me not to eat fruit - which may be true - but I found it hard to accept.
The Advisor on the course was very encouraging and willing to answer lots of questions.

Hi Shelagh and welcome to the forum. Following your course I hope you're managing to get your readings down without feeling too deprived

Now for more interesting topics. We have a thread in 'Off The Subject' called 'Procratination'. Perhaps you could share some of your weaving projects with us. We're mad for a bit of craft. Which reminds me...I have a pic that I need to put up on the wall.

Hope to see you around my lovely.

Welcome Shelagh.
Glad you have joined the forum. Ask away with any questions and someone will be there to answer.
(Also love to see outcome of your rep sampler in procraftination. It will make me find out how to upload my photo)

Let me know how to post photo then I will!
Also, where is the recipe section - I must be really dense not to find it
Off weaving for 10 min before I go out

Hi Shelagh
If you click on the thread titled 'Food/carb queries' the recipe section is at the top of that page. There's loads of good stuff in there.

Hi Sheelagh

It took me some time to find my way round this forum, partly because I have not used others before.
northerner has pinned at the top of this thread a list of resources that are useful to newbies. It is separated out into Type 1 And Type 2 so easy to find relevant references. There is a useful one for type 2 on how to use testing to inform what you eat. I used the ideas for myself as well.

I hope that you are getting to grips with things.
