Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everyone!

I am a newbie, hence I am in this forum! I'm 19 years old and had diabetes since I was 5 years old! I'm on the basil-bosul regime thing, so taking 1 long acting injection and (at least) 3 fast acting injections a day. Having a tough time at the moment! My blood sugar NEVER seems to be at 7! Having also just started college I'm struggling having very few people understand anything about my condition! Thought it would be nice to come on here and hopefuly find some people who understand the type of things I'm going through! Obviously everyones diabetes is different but hopefully there are a few people out there who are experiencing something similar! Practically everyone I know is under the impression that diabetes invovles 'avoiding sugar and having a few injections a day'...haha little do they know!

Anyways hopefully speak to someone soon! 🙂

hi orange

I can sympathise with you on this sort of thing, unfortunately you will get people who dont understand the condition, I have found that the only way round this is to educate them and get them involved. You will find at sometime you will get some one who doesnt either want to understand or just simply cant get their head round it. I sometimes keep a couple of the leaflets you see in the stands at the diabetic clinic, although I know whats written in them they are handy to hand out to the ones who dont understand your condition....:D
