Hi, just joined the forum. Was diagnosed T1 7 years ago at the age of 27 and am now considering a pump as I'm concerned as having too many highs and lows (often during sleep) that might be better controlled with a pump (HBC1a 7.8 but would be higher if it wasn't for all the hypos).

Welcome on board Jamie........

How do you feel your insulin regime is working for you at the moment.....?

Where could it be improved do you think.?

Hi Jamieizz, welcome to the forum 🙂 What insulin do you currently use? Have you been offered a pump, or is it just something you are thinking might help, and haven't broached the subject yet with your consultant?

Thanks! Im on Levimir and Novorapid, pretty low doses (6u once a day Levimir, between 6-12 NR with meals) and using DAFNE approach where possible. But always wake up high as trying to avoid night-time hypos. Then corrections and/or unexected lifestyle stuff then leads to hypos about once a day at the moment, especially at the weekend when its harder to plan meal times etc.

Thanks Northerner. I'm planning to raise it with my specialist next month, but it was first suggested at a recent DAFNE group follow-up meeting with my specialist nurse and dietician. Spoke to others using pumps and everyone was positive about them.

Well, there are a lot of people here who can help you out if you have any questions or need any reassurance 🙂 They're not for everyone, but most people have found them indispensable! 🙂

Welcome to the forum Jamieizz 🙂

Hi,

I'm new on here too. You sound similar to me. I went on a pump 5 years ago and it certainly did help with the night hypo's and hypo's generally really. I still have them but better controlled and more stable. I would definitely recommend a pump 🙂

Hi Jamie, welcome to the forum, there's lots of useful help on here, just ask away. 🙂
