Hi Ted, welcome to the forum 🙂 Is the 6.3 your meter average? Was the 11.8 mmol a fingerprick test? Ideally, you want to be aiming for that 6.3 or below on average, so it looks like you have made a good start. Are you on any medication, and what changes have you made to help reduce your levels?

Hi from me too Ted.

That looks like a pretty good start on the face of it.

What's happening with you - diet and exercise, or has your doc prescribed Metformin or another drug(s). What advice have you been given so far?

And do you get enough test strips prescribed to keep tabs on how individual foods affect your meter readings?

Diabetic Ted

Thank you all!
I am on metformin 500 twice a day . I have changed my diet from two eggs a day to two eggs one of which with only the white . I have two slices of toasted
Whole grain bread with honey and cinnamon sprinkled on it . in an hour I have an apple or banana . For lunch I have brown , rice fish or lean meat , vegetables and Greek yogurt . Evening is a light meal . Nothing sweet . I have always exercised with weights on a daily basis .This I have been doing all my life . Now ,
Most f the time my mmol is below 6 . I have been eating spinach and bitter melon too .
I hope this helps others and also get a fedped back .

Thank you all.
Ted

The blood test showed 11.8 mmol . I was misguided . The person told me that tea was ok before the test .At that time I used to take 3 teaspoons of sugar in a cup of tea .That must have spiked the reading to 11.8 mmol . I do have strips now to check my sugar . Last I tested was this morning .It was 5.9 mmol.
Thanks .
