I think that you'll largely be guided by what your meter says and when you can get your exercise.

But, until that information is in, let me wish you a warm welcome to the forum!

Andy 🙂

That's as expected Ade - even two readings taken from the same finger at the same time can show a difference of +/- 10% so it's usually best just to believe the first one 🙂

Is the reading of 8.1 very high northerner? and could I reduce my blood glucose readings with a balanced diet and exercise?

8.1 is an excellent reading 2 hours after eating Ade 🙂 You should also take a reading before eating so you know how much your level has risen by as a consequence of what you ate - what did you eat?

Hi Ade and welcome. It is probably worth getting a profile of your BG through the day to try and spot any peaks. An excellent start would be before your main meals and 2 hours after together with a log of what you have eaten. Have you had an HbA1c done recently as this indicates overall control? As your GP is not telling you much have you had diabetic checks done such as retinal screening and feet?

Yes My HbA1c in June 2012 was a figure of 81 then in December My Gp then said it was higher a reading of 84 I have My feet andeyes checked reguarly at the surgery they are fine my cohlestrol blood pressure is fine kidneys are fine also liver.pre meal reading tonight was 6.0 2 hrs after meal was 6.1 I had beetroot half baked potatoe small chicken breast and few baked beans and a greek style no fat yoghurt

Those are great pre and post-meal numbers Ade, and good to hear that all your bits checked out OK! 🙂

the gp said if my HbA1c does not go down i may have too go on insulin injections so I am trying too go on walks after work for excercise and watch what I eat loose weight before my next blood test, even though I had lost 9llb in weight my blood HbA1c was still high,Iam taking 4x 80mg Gliclacide daily with 3x850mg metformin daily

If you can continue getting results like you have posted from your meter, and keep up the exercise I am pretty sure your HbA1c will be much improved next time around.

Worth having a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S as a guide to efficient testing (if you haven't already read it!) 🙂

Thankyou for your time in answering me Northerner and StephenM🙂
