Hello
I found the site when I googled for Bob Diamond and the Bankers,
and this site came up
Why did I google the title , because I wrote an article with that title , and it was to see where it was (some were closed forums others not)

I registered as I've been type 1 for 29 years...but who's counting.
It only feels longer......lol

Hi Stonefree, welcome to the forum 🙂 How have things been for you over the years?

hi and welcome to the forum

Hi stone free and a warm welcome to the forum

How have things been for you over the years?
Generally above average, didn't have a hypo for 18 years from diagnosis.
And it's never stopped me doing anything apart from hang gliding....(oh that's maybe because I don't like heights......lol)

It's been a long while since I subscribed to any Diabetic forum , last one was .alt.diabetes.uk.that got to be about 15 years ago,That being said there is no particular reason why I didn't search one out

Well, I hope you enjoy being a member here 🙂 I remember Usenet too! No hypos for 18 years? I had one on my second day out of hospital. What insulin regime are you on now?

Welcome and i must say WOW....hang gliding....fair play....i would LOVE to do that....hint hint...😉

Welcome to the forum stonefree 🙂

Humalog and Levermire now......I have to admit when diagnosed I had been undiagnosed for at least 7 years and was seriously unwell ,the GP never ever took a Urine or Blood .
It was an optician who spotted it.
At that period in time the idea was to keep BS low....a 3.9 was high for me and I was fine at 1.8,hence the non hypos for a long time

re the usernet forum,I remember posting on the subject of Insulin and having an attitude problem and were they linked....it was a bit of fun

Eh? undiagnosed Type 1 for 7 years? How old were you when you were diagnosed? As far as I'm aware 3.9 or below has always been a hypo and if you were regularly below this then you can't say you didn;t have a hypo for 18 years - if 1.8 isn;t a very severe hypo, then what is?

27,I had the dramatic weight loss, lost over half my weight, I couldn't walk 100 yards or mtrs for the younger readers...lol
Generally I try not to think about it and the GP's arrogance,it would just make me bitter and serves no purpose
Yes I know about the BS's however things are different now
I suppose technically I would have always been in a hypo state, however everyone's kicks in at a different level.
At the yearly "mots" the staff knew about my lower than normal levels, and caused no concern
I probably have the records from back then...how sad is that?
There are a couple of thread on Martial Arts, which I did for about 15 years ,but because I never suffered hypo's I can't comment
As I said things have changed now , I suppose I'm now aware, that I'm not indestructible
