Welcome Craig - just join in any threads you like or start more of your own. Questions and answers are welcome from everyone 🙂

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum 🙂 I hope that, with our help and support, you can get to grips with things and manage your diabetes well 🙂 As you probably already know from reading - no question is considered 'silly' 🙂 Are you on any medication for your diabetes, and are you able to test your blood sugar levels?

Hi Craig. Welcome 🙂

Rob

Welcome to the forums Craig 🙂

Hi Craig - it's great you've found us here and can start giving and taking advice from the people on here who actually LIVE with diabetes rather than just get advice from "the professionals".

Give us a bit more detail about yourself please. Post, rant, whinge anything here someone will always come back to you either with help, suggestions or just support. They are a great lot - sometimes a bit silly but that's life.....😱

Well as i said i found out I had type 2 around 2 and a half years ago. For most of that time I have struggled to get it under control, I must admit alot of it was down to me failing to keep on top of my meds. Then around April this year i went for my photograph eyetest and they found a cohlestral clot in one of my eyes 😱 My blood results didnt fair much better, fasting was 10.7 and cohlestral 5.7.

In August i was referred to a specialist who sent me for another photographic eye test and also an ultrasound on my neck. Then last month I got a copy of a letter that was sent to my GP basically saying he recomends that I start a course of Exentide which to be honest freaked me out. I told my GP i wouldnt agree until i had had my bloods tested again as i explained i had got my act together, taking my meds correctly, go to the gym regularly, lowered my alcohol intake and most of all i quit smoking back in July. He agreed.

I had my test results back last week, levels are down to 7 and my cohlestral is down to 4. My GP has now reduced my Glucozide by half so currently my meds are: 2 x 1000mg Metformin
40mg Glucozide
(plus 80mg statin)

Wow, well done Craig that's a tremendous improvement! Keep up the good work - always nice when you can reduce the meds instead of increasing them! 🙂

Hi Craig and welcome to the forums.

Well done for getting to grips with things after you 'lightbulb moment'. It sounds like you're well and truly on the right track now. You should really start seeing the benefits of all your hard work. XXXXX

Im getting there, im not feeling constantly tired anymore and just feel happier. The key is deal with it head on and dont bury your head in the sand as its not gonna go away.

And just for the record it 40mg gliclazide not glucozide, where i got that from i dont know, its been a long day!!!! :D

Haha! Don't worry about it. We have a whole new language on here for D (diabetes) related stuff. E.g. we often call Metformin Metf*rting ( I bet you can guess why! Or we just use initails and abreviations. You'll get used to it.

It is great when you start feeling better and happier in yourself. It spurrs you on no end.

I was just wondering, are you testing your own BG's at all? I'm sure you'll have noticed how many of us think our meter is our best friend, although many GP's don't think us Type 2's need to. XXXXX

Yea i test myself twice daily, I think they are great in helping you on finding out what foods effect your levels etc. I mean the first time i got "the shakes" i tested myself and found my levels were low, 3.2. I take mine pretty much everywhere lol

Hi Craig and welcome to the forum 🙂
