New here, though browsed since day 1 (I never rush into anything - including Diabetes). Was diagnosed in 2007 aged 45, I was 6' and weighed 11 stone and told that I was type 2, I then lost 2 stone in 2 months and a second opinion was type 1 (showing readings of 35+). I'm on MDI using Novorapid and Lantus, and I think that I manage my control very well - last Hba1c 6.5, as oppsed to 15 upon diagnosis.

Thanks for the welcome Northerner, I'm sure you'll hear more from me. I used to post on another forum, but got fed up of low carb diets been drummed into people, though to be fair the forum was made up of mostly type 2s.

LOL Kwaka! - I think I might know the very forum you mean.

I myself manage my own carbs ie I tell people I have a managed carb diet and I strongly advocate all diabetics do the same! Someone's management of them may indeed encompass them lowering their carbs if their meter tells em they need to and often T2's find that exceedingly helpful, but there's no need for it to be compulsory for all of us all the time. ROFL.

In any case - if this forum wasn't just as non-judgmental as the other one I inhabit, I wouldn't be here ......
