Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello - I'm new to the message boards, but was diagnosed Type 1 in July 1986 at age 33 - so Diabetes has been around for 25 years - just came out of the blue and no family history of it on either side. I was on humulin isophane until just over two years ago, when following an emergency admission to the local hospital after being found on the floor during the night. I was in a coma for 5-6 weeks, and the hospital changed my regime to Humalog at mealtimes and Lantos at bed-time. I retired from work a year ago, and now spend my time doing the domestic jobs and the school run for our two grandchildren (nearly 5 and 6 1/2) who live with us full time. I live just outside Stockport, but haven't been involved with any local support groups. I made my first post yesterday, and I'm really impressed with rthe replies, biut don't know why I'm shown as a Junior Member!!.

Hi Niel. Welcome to the forum. 🙂

We all started off as juniors and try not to bully new members. :D

Hope you can learn more than you could ever dream of about diabetes from the forums. I did. 🙂

Rob

Hi Niel, don't worry about being a junior, it's all to do with the number of posts you have made - up to 30, Junior, 20-100, Member, 100+, Senior Member 🙂

Glad to hear you made it through the coma, that must have been a very frightening time for you family. Hopefully, you will be able to share some of your experiences with our more recently diagnosed members! I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂
