New to all of this as diagnosed 2 weeks ago when admitted to hospital where started on insulin. Coping well except eyes blurred when reading causing headaches due to eye strain. Have been told not to drive which is not a problem as never learnt but feel at the moment that my life is governed by meals and blood sugars.

hi and weclome dancersmum x , great site and very good people , xx

Welcome to the forum. Not surprised that you feel life is governed by meals and blood sugars at the moment - it is such early days for you. Hope it will get easier - it has for many of us over time

I was diagnosed a month ago and felt like you do now. I am getting the hang of it all now and my fear of pricking my finger every morning has gone. The food bit is a steep learning curve but after a month I don't go near the ready meals isle in Tescos anymore. And it's cheaper than I thought it would be. I hope your eyesight improves. Take care...

Hi, and welcome! The problem with the eyes should clear as your sugars improve - it is caused by high sugars. I had to buy myself a magnifying glass so I could read food packets! Took about a month for my eyesight to return to normal - hope yours does soon!🙂

A friend told me i might have hayfever but i dont know the symptoms?? my eyes sting and they itch as well ,

like tez says at first i was crying everytime i had to prick my finger i had my OH doing it for me the first day because it was just so alien to me all the blood was a sight as well , as time goes you will get the hang if it and it will become part of your routine we were all there one time or another

Hi dancersmum......also new. Also Hampshire.

yes really really hot i get soaked

As a type 1, I always test my blood sugar when I get really hot and have found quite often it is low. I don't know if it's the same for type 2's but suspect you have tried that already.

yes MCH i have tryed that it is very weird but i always have a mini fan in bed or a window open still dont help

Tanks for the advice and friendly welcomes, it is nice to know that you are not alone.🙂

Try drinking loads of water - it does help to lower your levels and possibly help your eyesight.:D Bev
