Hi
I was diagnosed with type II in about 2010.
Didn't take enough care and after a diabetic ketoacidosis in January 2024 (with an hba1c of 69 and a ketone level of 7) I was put on insulin.
Now, a year later, my hba1c is down to 41 and (advised by my doctor) I've stopped 2 of my medications and am currently in the process of gradually coming off insulin.
This has mainly been done with diet and a self-funded Freestyle Libre.
Feeling pretty good

It's a familiar story, Nigel. Well done on getting yourself back to a good place after your DKA. You have every right to be feeling pretty good after what must have been a worrying time. Pleased to hear that your GP has decided that you no longer need some of your meds. Hopefully the insulin will soon go, too. Once again, well done - great result.

Welcome to the forum @NigelStevens

Gosh! Sorry to hear about your DKA. I think that’s quite rare in T2 diabetes isn’t it?

Great to hear you’ve been able to find a way of eating that has allowed you to reduce your meds.

Were you ever checked for diabetes antibodies?

Hi @NigelStevens welcome to the Forum. 🙂 You've done so well to get yourself to a good place, great effort!
