Good morning,
Just joined this forum and looking forward to gaining some useful information on how to reverse type 2 diabetes.
Recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
Thank you in advance
RoBo

Morning @RoBoRo and welcome to the forum

Can you remember what your hba1c score was as this will be your starting point.
If you have just had one test, you will probably require another test to confirm Pre Diabetic, 3 months after the first test.

At the Pre Diabetic stage you have no need to panic as some slight life style changes may get you back into the normal range
Alan 😉

Good morning Alan,

March 2024 - 41
Dec 2024 - 42

Not 100% sure what this means, but will start reading. As you mentioned, should be able to get back in to normal range with some minimal life style changes
Thank you and I look forward being a part of this group.
Kind regards

Those numbers look pretty ok and only just in the pre-diabetic range.

42-47 is pre-diabetic, anything over 47 is diabetic so it doesn't look like you need to change much.

Lose a little weight, cut back on carbs and get some exercise in and that would probably do it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Appreciate your help.
Started a process to shed a few pounds, already packed up the cigarettes and the booze.
Will keep the forum posted of changes in due course.

Have a look at this link as you will see there are probably a few easy swaps you can make to reduce your carbs a bit. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Many do find they put on a bit of weight when they quit smoking but good on you for taking that initiative so reducing carbs and not snacking should help.
Some drinks are fine as they are low carb, wines and spirits with diet mixers, it is more beer and cider and liqueurs that are high carbs. Though I did see someone mention a low carb beer a while ago.
The main thing is to guard against any increase in HbA1C by taking action now.

As @dannybgoode has said, you are only just in the Pre Diabetic range, so defiantly no need to panic, but a good time to take control to avoid any increase.

When you have done a little reading, it's good to set yourself weight, waist and HbA1c targets. You will be feel all the better for reaching them. Where would you like to be?
