Type 2
I'm new to the group having been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a while ago. I will add that I also have osteoarthritis mainly in knees and fingers. I am trying hard to eat the right foods but having been a very fussy eater all my life it's not easy. I'm on metformin and atorvastatin for cholesterol. My weight is going down, was 120kg end of July and now, through light exercise doing breathing exercises and cutting food portions I have got down116.5kg. There's a way to go, short walks are OK, but longer ones hurt my knees. I think I will find other posts here helpful.

Welcome to the forum
If you are only taking metformin then a low carb approach is suitable and the benefit of that is there is not fixed food or meals that you need to have but being mindful of what are high carb foods and trying to reduce your portions of those and make up by having protein and healthy fats.
You may find something to suit you in the link to a low carb approach https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Also you might find the book or app Carbs and Cals helpful as it gives carbs values for a whole range of foods and portion sizes so helps make better choices

Welcome to the forum @Mo Stevens

Congratulations on your weight loss. Keep going! It’s amazing how effective a few smallish changes like portion control and a few swaps to lower-carb alternatives can be.

Hope you can find a sustainable and enjoyable way of eating that gradually moves your weight to where you’d like it to be, and helps get your BG levels back in range 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Mo Stevens . I also have osteoarthritis in my knees and hands although at a fairly early stage so stiffness more than than pain. Many places do seated exercises for people with limited mobility. I attend a weekly Tai Chi class which can be done standing or seated or just using a chair to help with balance. I find it also helps with joint flexibility. It is very gentle on your joints. Swimming or aquasize is also good as the water supports your joints.
Any form of gentle exercise will help. Short walks and stretching will also help.I always wear gloves and a pair of leggings under my gardening trousers this time of year to keep my joints warm.
Wishing you well on your journey with diabetes. There is a lot of information and support on this forum.
