New to this news, so just saying hello and hoping to learn as much as possible.
Should have said, hba1c is 46, bmi 23, age 52. Was 10 stone 10 but that’s coming down. No idea this was round the corner (I bet everyone feels like that). Would welcome any help with how to manage this as much as poss through diet and exercise.

Not a happy band I’m sure anyone thinks they’ll be joining. Looks like there is lots of info in here which is grand.

Hi @Fergie72 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear you're at risk, but glad to see you're looking to make necessary changes to get on top of that. Different people take different approaches and I'll leave it to our experienced Users to share what has worked for them, but in the mean time you might find our recipe finder useful, if you're running out of ideas on what to cook. Do feel free to ask any questions or share how you're getting on!

Hi Fergie,
Welcome to the forum. From experience I'd say your best bet is to follow a sustainable diet that will get your HbA1c down into the 30s and keep it there for good. A colourful starting point is Freshwells list of red, amber and green foods. The aim is to lose enough weight to restore your health and body to where you want them to be.

Hi, I'm newly diagnosed and new here too. It's a brilliant source of support and wisdom. I was pre-diabetic for 2 years before my diagnosis. I wish to goodness I'd known about Diabetes UK and this forum then. I hope that everything you learn from here helps you reduce your hba1c.

Similarly, all the best. It’s a learning curve right enough!
