Newly diagnosed in my sixties after an active life enjoying running and walking. Huge weight loss in a few months and wiped out physically so actually a relief to be diagnosed as I thought I was a goner! Coming up to a couple of months on insulin and I'm feeling much better, energy levels back to normal and pretty positive about the situation

Welcome @RMP 🙂 Yes, I didn’t realise how ill I’d been feeling until I got diagnosed and got the insulin my body desperately needed. Do you have a Libre?

Yes - once they finally sussed out it was Type 1 I got all the goodies and am getting the beeps. Funnily enough the alarm went off as I was coming up off the beach after a walk and a guy coming down the steps said, "Glucose alarm?". Makes me realise how many of us there are out there!

You are certainly not the only one to be diagnosed later in life, a friend was nearly 80 when diagnosed, 2 years of unsuccessful treatment as Type 2 before finally got insulin. It doesn't stop her doing anything including travelling all over the place.

Hehe! And we are a lot easier to spot ‘in the wild’ these days - certainly during the summer months, with sensors poking out below t-shirt sleeves!

Glad you’ve made such a positive start, and are feeling much better. Long may that continue 🙂
