Hello, i'm new to this forum. Have lived with T2 almost 15 years now. I'm looking for some support to try to live a healthier life and get my bg levels steadier. I've put more weight on recently, since my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer i've bern eating my emotions. So as a result bg are far too high.

I was also taking ozempic for 2 years, but had to stop after throwing up over myself whilst driving. The weight just comes back on straightaway. I tried to tolerate it for so long, but i couldn't work properly whilst I feel nauseus, vomiting with no notice.

I need a reset, and good advice. Thank you

If you are on no other medication than metformin then a low carb approach would help and ideas have changed in how important and successful diet is in reducing your blood glucose and losing weight. Have a look at this link for some ideas for making some changes, there are some do's and don'ts as well as some menu plans if that is what you prefer. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Keeping carb intake to no more than 130g per day is a good starting point. A food diary with an estimate of the carbs you are having will indicate where you could make some savings.

Sorry about your mum's diagnosis @feejee, it can be hard to eat wisely at the best of times never mind when you have something like that to deal with. However, you need to look after yourself as well and it's good that you've decided it's reset time. When I feel like nibbling on a biscuit or a packet of crisps, I generally try to divert myself by going for a trot round the block or do something to take the thought away. If I'm actually hungry between meals, a few nuts or a bit of cheese will stem the rumbles.
Wishing you well x

Gosh, sorry to read what a difficult time you had with Ozempic @feejee - sounds really horrid :(

And very sorry to hear about you Mum’s diagnosis. I know what it’s like to live through that, so I understand how all-consuming it can be. Be kind to yourself, and treasure the time you have together.

Many folks on the forum have sought just the same sort of reset that you are looking for, and many have found that reworking their way of eating to focus on making it blood-glucose friendly for their particular diabetes, metabolism, and taste preferences can be a highly effective way of keeping their diabetes in line.

Good luck in finding a diabetes busting menu that works for you 🙂

I was also so sorry to hear about the problems and worries that @feejee is going through. Good advice here on deciding on a reset. That is what need to do. It has been a difficult time for the past few months with family health and I know that I need to look after my health if I am going to take care of others. I have blown the dust off my copy of Carb & Calorie Counter! Please wish me luck!

I am so sorry to hear how difficult things are for you, particularly the sad news of your Mum. There is always help and encouragement on this site as I have found during the ‘down’ times that sometimes happen. You will manage your reset….please let us know how you get on….
