Welcome to the forum.
If you have any questions fire away and one or another person will be able to help you 🙂

Perhaps you would like to say a bit about your diagnosis, what your HbA1C is, have you been prescribed any medication, do you have weight to lose as it will indicate how much work you have to do and what will be an appropriate dietary regime.
Were you given any advise on lifestyle changes, the most important will be looking at your diet.

Thanks for the welcome. I have recently been told I have type 2 in fact just dipping my toe with a score of 48. Not on any medication being advised on weight ,lifestyle changes and diet. Finding it a minefield with food. Been looking at the traffic lights on the packaging but found out some of the things that I've been eating are wrong even though traffic lights say healthy eg fruit loaf as dried fruit high in sugar so a lot to learn

I'm afraid the traffic light system is as much use as a chocolate teapot as far as good information for those who are diabetic as it does not show the carbohydrate content which is what you need to be looking at. it is on the back of packets etc in the nutritional information box.
You are not far into the diabetic zone so those dietary changes should be sufficient but getting an understanding of which are high carb foods and therefore should be cut out or only had in reduced portions.
The book or app Carbs and Cals in very useful in giving the carb values of a whole range of foods in various portion sizes.
Portion size is important in keeping carbs reduced. It is suggested that a good starting point for reducing carbs is no more than 130g carbs per day.
Have a look at this link or some good explanation and some menu plans. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
I followed those principal and reduced my HbA1C from 50mmol/mol to 42 in 3 months.

What colour traffic light are you considering healthy? I’ve just checked on Tesco app and their fruit loafs are orange for sugar not green, so the traffic light is warning you that it’s quite sugary. Are you considering orange as healthy?

It's a lot to take in and understand like carbs, glycemic levels etc. Plus when you get one telling you one thing then someone else contradicts what you have just been told or read. Thankfully I have now been pointed in this sites direction and learn

I would just take note of the carbohydrate (not the sugar) content and don't worry too much about GI as foods can be different depending on an individual's gut bacteria. All carbs convert to glucose, it is just those which are given a low GI label digest more slowly in some people. High GI foods can be converted into lower ones by the foods they are combined with like fats and protein. It adds an extra level of complication to take account of GI.
