Welcome to the forum @Lou_2287

Hope you get on well with the ‘path to remission‘ programme

There are a number of forum members who have found it a really successful strategy that worked for them.

You can chat about your experiences, and exchange updates on your progress in our relatively new remission section here:

Welcome. How are you finding sticking to the shakes etc so far?

Not too bad actually. I only like the chocolate and vanilla ones. I did a chocolate with warm water that was alright like drinking a hot chocolate.
I’m not a fan of the soups. They taste too powdery to me so I’m going to stick to the shakes.

When I’ve had shakes before I’ve found blending with ice has helped the texture but I’ve never stuck to them for a period of time really. I don’t like cup a soups so can imagine powdery soups not being that nice either! At least some of the shakes taste nice and you know that it’s only for a set period of time not forever.

Yeh just feels like a long 12 weeks. I did read on the site there will be some more flavours to chose from so hoping there will be more when get my next lot.
I’m looking at what I could do to the shakes to add flavour too them.

Are you allowed any of the sugar free coffee syrups you usually see in tk maxx?

I’m not sure. Someone in the group asked if we could have the skinny syrups. The coach is going to find out
Hi Lou, I'm on the Newscastle diet alright. Tomorrow will be the end of week 3. I've lost 14 pounds so far, but I've got 21 more to goal. I'm in the US where we can't get the same shakes you have. It's taken me some time and mistakes to get ones that fit the program well, but I've got a handle on it. It's not great fun, especially watching others eat, or even seeing food on TV, but its too important to me to break diet. Also, my wife makes great salads in the evening, and that really helps both with hunger and...not to put too fine a point on it...nature's broom. I've been diabetic 7.5 years, so I'm concerned that my pancreas may be kaputsky. The study got good results for those diabetic for less than 10 years. Based on a thorough reading of Dr Taylor's Counterbalance study I'm getting early hints that I will be able to go into remission. I won't know for sure until I get an a1c test sometime right after my transition to a normal (Isocaloric) diet. My numbers are the best I've had since I got a meter...pretty normal, so there's that. I can't answer about the skinny syrups, but I can tell you that I have (apart from water) 3 sometimes 4 cups of tea each day and I sweeten liberally with stevia. So far my weight loss still tallies with what is expected, and I've done a bit of research into the whole artificial sweetener insulin response thing, and I'm not convinced it's something most need be concerned with. That said, I completely stay away from carbonated soft drinks like coke. I'm more concerned with my gut than with a spike. My gurus in this business are Dr Mark Lustig, Dr Roy Taylor, Dr Jason Fung, and a lesser known doctor who is a bodybuilder named Dr Ted Naiman. All of them are on Youtube and have fantastic videos. Best of luck...to us all!

Hi mhtyler in the US. I'm losing weight with food choices which is similar but would like to share something. When I started I really needed sweet things ... real or artificial, stevia honey dates grapes mango etc. I've been quite strict for nearly 12 weeks for none of these. It's been vvv hard. But now my taste buds seem to be changing. I am finding cheese quite sweet and even lettuce. It's very strange. Good luck. (I'm similar, been pretty diabetic for 5/6 years now T2)
