Welcome to the forum, yes you are in the right place to get lots of good advice, many people have taken the opportunity to make some lifestyle changes after having been given the 'wakeup call' of a prediabetes diagnosis. Depending on how near you are to that threshold of diabetes of anything over 47mmol/mol that will determine how much work you will need to do.
Your body will be struggling to deal with the carbohydrates in your diet, all carbs convert to glucose so reducing your intake of potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, breakfast cereals and well as cutting out the more obvious cakes, biscuits sugary drinks including fruit juice is likely to be sufficient as well as increasing exercise if you can.
This link may help you with some ideas for modifying your menu, as well as some do's and don'ts there are some menu plans.
