Hello. I've just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and am here to find out more about it.
Welcome to the forum, good you have made the step to join here early on as it will give you a good start to making some changes. Some information about how you cane to be diagnosed, what your HbA1C is and if you are on any medication will help people make appropriate suggestions as not every approach to managing your condition will be suitable.
However having a look at the Learning Zone, reading around the forum and having a look at this link https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/ will give you some ideas which route might suit you.
I'm sure you will have lots of questions so do ask away when you have had a chance to digest the information.
The important thing is to take this diagnosis seriously and find an approach which you can enjoy otherwise it will not be sustainable for the long term.
Dietary changes are going to be the most powerful tool and if you can get more exercise that will also help.

And welcome to the forum from me as well @jmbrolly ask away with any questions you may have.....
.

Welcome to the forum @jmbrolly

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

Was your diabetes picked up through regular screening? Or had you gone to the Drs to get checked because of some symptoms you were experiencing?

Alongside the NHS Freshwell Project, and The Learning Zone, you can also find a more personal introduction to T2 with Maggie Davey’s open letter, which gives an account of how one woman came to terms with her diagnosis.

Maggie Davey’s Letter to the Newly Diagnosed

Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis became a sort of catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life. Perhaps changes that they had been intending to make for years, but never quite managed to get stuck into.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on 🙂

welcome to the forum @jmbrolly
I am pleased that you have found us, and I hope that you find the forum helpful.
Whatever questions arise, Just ask. Nothing is considered silly on here.
