Using prednisone blood sugar is 196
Welcome to the forum.
Steroids are well known for causing high blood glucose level. To put the 196 into context can you say what test that was a result of and what the units are.
Are you on any medication to help you manage your blood glucose level or are you relying on dietary measures.

Is 196 a fingerprick reading and are you in a country that isn’t the UK? 196 would convert to 10.8 if so.

When did you take the reading.

Looks like you may be posting from Trinidad, which may explain the uncertainty over units?

Steroids can he very effective treatments, but they do have the effect of raising blood glucose levels in some people.

If you are concerned about the impact of steroids on your glucose levels you might like to ask your GP for an HbA1c check, which will indicate your general blood glucose levels over the previous 3-4 months and which is less susceptible to occasional variations and ‘spikes’ than a fingerstick check.

HbA1c is the measure used to diagnose diabetes as it is a more reliable indicator than a one-off fingerstick check. 🙂
