Hello everyone, I'm a sort of newbie (diagnosed Jan 2022), but was very stubborn and in denial about it all initially. Since then I have come to my senses and made significant lifestyle changes so that I don't (at the moment) have to take medication, I am managing my diabetes through diet, weight loss and exercise. The first year has been tough, but the realisation that I've got to keep it up for the foreseeable (yikes !) 😳

Hopefully you have found an approach to managing your blood glucose that you are finding enjoyable otherwise it is hard to sustain long term, it really has to become a new way of eating.
This link may give you some inspiration and new ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/

Sounds like you’ve been making great progress @Yvem

Making changes that are sustainable long-term can be so important. Hopefully you’ve found it possible to adjust and adapt your diet, and add in sorts of activity and exercise which you find both beneficial for your diabetes management, and which will work for you long term.

How are you getting on with your weight loss? Losing weight can help increase insulin sensitivity - especially if it’s weight carried around the middle which may indicate a build-up of visceral fat around the organs in the abdomen. Clearing visceral fat can help the pancreas and liver work more effectively.

We have lots of experienced members here who have found ways to make their new choices sustainable and how best to cope with holidays, celebrations and the like - so keep firing away with any questions 🙂
