Relationship to Diabetes

Hi, I am 62 and Type 2 insulin based Diabetic, a few many years now, but still lots to learn and understand. I am sure this forum will be a font of knowledge.
I was diagnosed over 20years ago, young, busy life, thought what!???? never really took myself seriously. Then 8 years ago, I was a mess, I cried at the drop of a hat, I was tired, and frustrated at myself, also I was over weight. I went to see the Doctors, he did blood test etc, I returned for the results and this was put down to diabetes; he immediately gave me medication and within a few weeks I felt so much better, however, my diet still had much to be desired.
5 years ago after so much medication and reading still very high, I was put on insulin, this did work in a fashion. roll forward to 2020, Covid and lock down. my weight had ballooned to 19stone!!!! time to get down to business, joined a friends Slimming World, a smart hula hoop (one that does not fall down) exercise bike and 2mile daily walks with the dog, and good healthy eating.
After 6 months I had lost 4stone. dropped from dress size 26 to size 18. my sugar levels with insulin and Dapagliflozin Metaformin combined with Glicizade) have become stable, I still have my glitches, either too high or too low, it is all a learning curve to get it right.
Neuropathy, I have numbness in my feet and at time fingers, I can stumble, and it can cause sleepless nights with pain, weight is creeping, but I know I can get it back under control,

Wow! many congrats on the weight loss and getting your diabetes under better management (we all have highs and lows here and there with insulin) I hope you will gain as much knowledge, practical tips and inspiration from the forum as I have. If you have any particular questions please ask but other wise I find reading other people's posts helps me understand it a lot better. We are of course all different and what works for one doesn't always work for others, but you get ideas of what you can try from other people and then see if it works for you or not.

Which insulin(s) are you on? Do you carb count and adjust doses or just use fixed doses.... which can sometimes lead to highs and lows if you don't eat similar meals each day.
