Hi everyone! First time on this forum and hoping to get some helpful tips and support

Hi @Danski75, and welcome to the forum from me too....

Welcome to the forum @Danski75 .

Fire away with any questions that you have. There is a wealth of experience on here to tap into. No questions are considered silly. Just ask.

Welcome to the forum @Danski75

How long have you been living with T1? Are you on pens or a pump? Do you have Libre or a different continuous sensor? Have you done DAFNE or a similar education course?

Any experiences or challenges/annoyances that have made you reach out to the forum at this time?

Glad you’ve found us, whatever the reason 🙂 Have a look around and jump in!

Hi,
I have been diabetic for 23 years, type one, on Pens and a freestyle libre sensor. I did dafne about 15 years ago.
Have recently realised I have a really bad relationship with food and am fatigued with living with diabetes- forget to test and inject regularly.
My dietician mentioned diabetes distress and burnout and just wondered if anyone had any advice or support around this?

Sorry to hear you are finding things tough @Danski75 - it’s encouraging that more healthcare professionals are aware of the intense mental burden that can be part of living with diabetes.

Sadly many forum members have faced periods of burnout and diabetes distress, with periods of depression, anxiety, or lack of self-care than can come along as part of that toxic cocktail :(

You may be able to access counselling and support via IAPT (including access to psych therapies), though it’s not necessarily easy to find a counsellor or psychotherapist who has a diabetes specialism - though they do exist!

There are a range of other self-care options, which you might find helpful. One of our members @SB2015 recorded some strategies that helped her when living with diabetes negatively impacted her mental health

I am sorry to hear about your fatigue. It is understandable and there are plenty of us that have experienced Burnout. I hope that some of the strategies that are included in the link that @everydayupsanddowns has posted are of some help to you.

it took me a long time to ask for help, but it really helped me once I did. This forum is a great place to share experiences with people that ‘get it’ . Is there a specific concern that has triggered your tieredness with your Diabetes.. I learnt a lot of practical tips from others on here that gave me the ability to bring down some of my spikes. Any questions just ask.
