Hello and welcome. 🙂

Hi and welcome.

Would you like to tell us a bit about your diabetes to give us a better understanding of your individual situation, so that we can give more appropriate advice. Diabetes can be quite individual, even within the various Types, due to variations in diet and gut biome and medication and activity levels/mobility etc.

It would be helpful to know....

1. A bit about how your diagnosis came about? ie. Routine blood test, symptomatic and if so, which symptoms and did they come on suddenly or gradually..... or some other means?

2. What if any medication you have been given for your diabetes?

3. Your most recent HbA1c, when was that and is it an improvement or otherwise on your previous one?

4. How much (if any) weight you have to lose?

5. What, if any dietary changes you have already made/tried?

6. Do you have a BG meter (finger prick tester) to test your glucose levels at home and if so, what sort of readings are you getting?

7. How mobile/physically active are you?

Sorry if that seems like the Spanish Inquisition but the more info we have about your diabetes, the better we can support you as an individual. Please don't feel under pressure to answer any questions you are not comfortable about.

Sadly many people are not getting the support that they need in the current climate, but personally I have found that the wealth of experience and knowledge here on the forum far exceeds anything I could have hoped to gain from the NHS, so hopefully the forum can help you get on the right track too.
Look forward to hearing more from you soon.

Hi and welcome Bev
I'm quite new here too but put my T2 into remission by changing what I ate.
I follow a very low carb, meat based diet which has led to lower than the usual population HbA1c levels for the past 7 years along with significant weight loss and the end of multiple other chronic conditions.
It also gave me a new pastime.. learning about T2 and how the human body functions or doesn't!

Welcome to the forum @bevpugh

How have things been going for you over the years? Have you found any strategies and approaches that worked for you?

Do you take any medication to help with your blood glucose management?

Is there anything in particular that you are finding difficult or confusing at the moment?
