Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I’m a new member of diabetes uk but I have lived type 2 for several years. I did really well losing weight and getting fit and I and was taken off the medication. However over the last 18 months I’ve lapsed the good work but I’m back watching what I eat (no processed carbs or sugar ) and back at the gym after a spinal Operation!!

Welcome to the forum.
It is disappointing when an injury or operation knocks things off course but you know you can do what is needed to get back on track.
Have a look at this link for some ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
I found the principals in this approach worked for me and provided a new way of eating which I enjoy, and feel is sustainable for the long term

Thank you looks like an interesting read and a good refresh for me!

Welcome to the forum @Wendym

Sorry to hear you’ve needed a spinal operation 😱

Hope the op was successful, and the recovery wasn’t too painful.

Good to hear you’ve had success managing your diabetes in the past, and you’ve jumped back into action. How has it been going at the gym?

Thanks operation went really well I was good and did as I was told - I went back swimming first which has been hard as I’m having to take things slowly and went to the gym for the first time Friday with my first full session tomorrow and I’ve been told to life the light weights which I will do - I’ve done a week now being good nutrition wise so my head seems to be back where it was . Oh and I have my diabetes check tomorrow as well all very timely

Well done!

And good luck for today 🙂

Let us know how things go

Thanks will do! Biggest surprise was I’ve lost 7lbs since I last went so happy with that any loss is a good loss although after 6 months of no alcohol I wanted more but I do feel better and hopefully my results will come back lower

Hi my HBA1C has come back as 54 which is a massive improvement in the last test but what is that in comparison to my at home test?

Thanks That’s good then better than the double figures it was previously - so 6 months without alcohol worked .
