New on here, been diet controlling type 2 . But has got bad and 99% sure I’ll be on tablets when my bloods come back.
Only just discovered (by this sight). Type 2 can make you feel down/ depressed. Doesn’t help having an emotional child hood Anyone else experienced this. I feel embarrassed I i let it go on like this.

Hello Ben 🙂

Are you doing any at home blood glucose tests to make you think your HbA1c will come back high, or is it just because you know that you haven't been eating quite as well as you were?

All sorts of things can contribute to depression and chronic conditions like Type 2 are definitely within that. I haven't been diagnosed very long but have definitely felt some ups and downs since diagnosis. Particularly at the thought of restricting carby foods forever.

I would guess that it's reasonably likely that a few of us had difficult childhoods, mine certainly wasn't always easy, and I very much entered adulthood with comfort eating including bingeing being a major coping strategy. That's going to be a big thing for me to watch, especially when people at work start to forget not to push me to eat biscuits and chocolate because they don't want to feel greedy being the only one eating it!

Hi there. I don’t test at home, I just know it’s because I haven’t eaten well lately and I can feel the effects. Feeling drunk while on my night shift at work. Docs before I moved house just kept on letting me control it by diet. This went on for a couple of years, then I moved house and doctors, they’ve been keeping an eye on me more closely. I feel embarrassed I’ve let it go on this long.

Just seen this post, like you I feel down on and off Ben, its hard at times all the testing and feeling set apart from other people who dont relate. thats why this place is so good, come here when you feel down, there is always someone around to talk and help with support, or just a chat. Don't be embarrassed, we all struggle at times x

Hi Ben1981, welcome to the forum.

No need to feel embarrassed as we're all at different stages of our journey with many of us in tricky situations for one reason or another.

The important thing is that you're here and wanting to improve things. We've got lots of info and support on the forum so please feel free to offload on the forum and reach out for support.

Tablets aren't the worst things in the world and you can still have an impact on your health by adjusting your diet where possible. It's worth nothing that eating for comfort is very common so it may be worth looking into getting some direct support or finding other ways to process things.

We've got some info on our site that may help with various aspects of managing diabetes so do have a look when you get the chance. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/types-of-diabetes/type-2
