I’ve registered here to help my husband with his recently diagnosed type 2. He’s not on meds and we want to keep it that way. Any foodie help will be greatly appreciated, his nurse says he’s doing good and we want to keep it that way. We think, taking his diet etc into consideration that the only other thing he can do is more exercise, but, he’s not a gym bunnie at the age of 76. We do walk, so will be trying to up that somewhat. We’re never going to be do marathons though but trying to walk 6 days a week for at least 45 mins. Usually a bit longer.

Always great to see loved ones on the forum as the support goes a long way. Essentially, reducing carbs and sugars along with exercise and good water intake can be helpful to keep your blood sugar levels within range.

So long as you can achieve the NHS advised minimum a 30min brisk walk 5 times per week, then that is enough exercise unless you enjoy doing more.
What you eat matters much more than how many calories your burn off with exercise.
Carbohydrates turn into glucose almost immediately (starting in the mouth). So just cut down on the carbs and the Blood Glucose will also reduce (in almost all cases).
