Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I had a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes two days ago. My doctor just told me to lose weight and do more exercise. I have rheumatoid arthritis which makes exercise difficult.

Any advice from people out there on what I should do?
Thanks and hello!

Hey Cathie, welcome to the forum🙂 Sorry you have to be here, but hopefully we can put some of your fears to rest. There is a lot to learn, but take your time to take things in and understand them. Doctors are great with some stuff, but it can also be a huge help to talk to people who know what you are going through, so please don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have.

There is a good book we recommend: Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker (amazon link)

This might give you a good starting point to begin understanding diabetes and the way forward.

Thanks for the Maggie Davey article I've speed read it and I had no idea about the testing which sounds really sensible. Good night!

Hi Cathie, welcome to the forum.

Hi Cathie, welcome to the forum 🙂 as regards excercise I dont know if you could manage aqua aerobics, I know there are a few ladies that go to my class that have had knee/hip replacements and other joint problems and they say the water helps them. x

HI Cathie and welcome - I would definitely recommend Gretchen Bakers book - and of course the helpful and sensible advice you get here!
