Type 3c
On this forum for various reasons but the main one being my partner who was diagnosed with type 2 about 6 years ago but today was confirmed to be type 3c not type 2. Interested to find out some info and understand a bit more

Hi @MJ48 and welcome to the forum. Can't help directly, Type 3c is a rarity, but we have members with that diagnosis and I am sure they will be along soon to say hello.

How did your partners diagnosis come about ? I'm sure that is the first question they will ask, so I will get it out of the way.

Thanks for replying.

He has been in and out of hospital for the last few years with pancreatitis, which sadly was not well managed until his last hospital stay. He doesn't have any of the usual triggers for pancreatitis, doesn't drink and no gall stones for example. No other cause could be found and the surgeon and diabetic team were determined to find the cause. The surgeon called yesterday and confirmed the diagnosis.

Hi and welcome from me too.

I am sure it would help to know what medication he has been given to help manage his 3c and you mention a surgeon being involved... has your partner had surgery? This info will help other 3cs get an understanding of where your partner may be at with his condition. Does he test his BG readings at home? If so what sort of readings is he getting?

Welcome to the forum @MJ48

Sorry to hear about your partner’s diagnosis with Type 3c.

Do they take insulin and creon? Which insulins are they on at the moment?

Is there anything they find partcularly challenging about managing their diabetes?
