hi I got diagnosed with T2 on 23/1/20. Can anyone tell me when I can expect the metformin to kick in and make things a little easier. Also is anyone else suffering with their feet burning needle pains I stand at the fryer for 8 hrs a day 6 days a week without a break I have a cafe and I’m the cook my legs and feet are really feeling it at the minute I’m 57 and I feel like 97. Please if anyone can give any advice

Many thanks carol.

I can only advise cutting carbs from your diet as I lasted only five weeks on Metformin and a statin until I decided to bin them.
Could you put a tall stool beside the fryer so at least you could take the weight off once in a while, even if only for half a minute.

Welcome Carol 🙂

Under a week for Metformin, I think, but I also found it pretty pointless without drastically reducing my carb intake. Also get the feet thing, you need to tell your GP so you get your feet checked sooner rather than later.

Welcome Carol. I agree with the others, the metformin alone won’t do it, you need to control your carb intake, cut back or cut out rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. Do you test your bloods at all? Self testing before and after meals will help you work out what foods do or don’t work for you.

No I don’t test my blood Cathy but think that’s a great idea I will try that many thanks for your kind reply

Hi Carol welcome to the forum🙂 what you describe with your feet is very common, please advise your GP quickly as it can develop. Try to rest your feet/legs during the day, I know its difficult with your occupation but feet tend to be a problem with diabetes but you need a proper diagnosis, give Doc a call and explain what`s going on.
