I have diabetes type 2 which I have had for some years. I am currently wearing a 2nd generation libre monitor. I am 3.5 weeks into the Newcastle diet using Exante shakes. Any advice would be most welcome.
I believe @travellor@ColinUK and @Weekender have had some success with the Newcastle Diet, but it’s only one approach, and others on the forum have had great success with other approaches if you find the 800 kcal diet difficult.
Let us know how you get on, and really hope it works for you. How are you finding it so far?

Exante shakes can be a bit sweet & sickly
When I make them up in the shaker jar I also add a spoonful of natural yogurt
This hardly affects the carb or calorie count, but it reduces the sweetness and makes them a bit thicker
It doesn't really matter what sort of nat yog you use; full or low fat, Greek or otherwise. I just get the cheapest
I blitz them up with plenty of ice in a bullet blender and never use the shaker jar they provide.
What flavours do you like or wonder how they ever got past first stage of testing?!
I did the 12weeks then due to circumstances put most of the weight back on. I now use them but less frequently. I’m going to do another concerted 12week stint soon.
@Betty13 are you having two shakes and an evening meal? Saw your post about veggies and I’d say follow the Newcastle protocol and use recipes from Michael Moseley or similar.
If you’re veggie then there’s a Low Carb Vegetarian cookbook by Rose Elliot which is pretty good. It’s an old fashioned paperback devoid of any illustrations or pics but the recipes all work.

Hi Betty
Good luck with the Newcastle diet. It worked for me. Like @ColinUK I kept a weekly diary you can read here: My diary I only log on to forum on Tuesdays nowadays, but would be pleased to answer any questions you have. My specialist subjects are constipation from the shakes and alcohol calories 🙂 Its been 18 weeks now, and I'm learning how to adapt to a 'normal' diet and keep diabetes free
Having read about Exante shakes on this Forum, I decided to try them and got a taster box of 5 flavours. I tried my first one for breakfast this morning and was disappointed. I found it had a very strong artificial flavour, a nasty aftertaste and was gritty. Perhaps it was just that particular flavour, so I'll try the rest.

Apologies for not getting back, bereavement in the family. So far I have lost 4 stone and have come on to the 1000 calorie diet. Also I have to check carbs and cals too.. Right at this moment I am a bit stuck... but will get there.

Apologies I had a bereavement. I was doing the fast 800, now I am on the 1000 calories now... stuck at the moment. Been advised to check carbs and cals. I have lost around 4 stone.
I'm sorry to read of your loss @Betty13 Sounds like you were making great progress. Sometimes it's best just to accept being in a stuck phase, be kind to yourself, and give it a good go next time. This bloomin' weather isn't helping much
