Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I'm néw to these forums but not to diabetes and have been a type II for 32 years. I graduated to insulin in 1998 and take Levemir long acting 68 units at night and novorapid thrice 28 units daily with meals. Regime recently changed in 2022 to 30, 20, 25 units of novo together with 64 levemir while recent intro of dapagliflozin which has made a dramatic effect on my blood sugars lowering them. Am still tweaking the units as i go along both novo and levemir and I'm waiting to see see my Hba1c in a few weeks. As I wasn't successfully losing weight they started me on semaglutide jabs weekly to complement the dapagliflozin and it has definitely had the desired effect. I'm eating a lot less than before, I'm less hungry all in all shedding 2lbs a week without much effort. Been on this therapy about 2 weeks. This is the most successful therapy I've been on in my time as a diabetic and I can only hope it lasts. I'll stick with it as long as I am able to. I'm a carer so I find it hard to make time for exercise and this regime suits me perfectly. Had a triple heart by-pass 6 years ago but other than a few laser ops for retinopathy and some tingling in feet I feel great. No other major issues. Happy to advise others if requested.

Hi Tomcat99, welcome to the forum.

Looks like you've got quite a bit of experience with managing diabetes so it's great to have you here, both to learn from and to offer support to.

I'm really glad to hear that you've found some medication that works not only to manage diabetes but weight loss too. It's no where near as easy for some to reduce their weight so I join you in hoping that it lasts as long as needed.

We've got lots of info and great conversations flowing in the forum so do have a look around and let us know if we can help in any way.
