Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello to everyone. i am recently new here . i am obese and have type 2 diabetes.i am considering gastric surgery. is there anyone on these forums who has had surgery and can advise on complications and success etc.

additionally the diabetes nurse at my gp surgery has advised me to take Trulicity on a regular basis. has anybody have experience with this injection medicine ? does it help with weight loss?

Please feel free to private message me or discuss through the forums.

i look forward to hearing from you 🙂

ps forgot to add i have recently been informed that i have protien in my urine (

Proteinuria ) does anyone else have this problem?

Hi @mikeyboy1965 Please consider carefully before opting for gastric surgery because it's failure rate is about the same as for the best food based interventions (approx 50% after 2yrs). The trouble is that unless you retrain your brain to accept real food, you are likely to cheat the surgery by drinking high carbohydrate drinks.

In my opinion its better to try a Low Carb way of eating first. Using a Blood Glucose meter to test how many and which type of carbohydrates your body can tolerate. Low carb usually causes loss of excess weight, cure of NAFLD, moderation of Blood Pressure, moderation of Sleep Apnoea, moderation of water retention and of heart failure.

If you can't manage Low Carb, the an 800 calorie per day crash diet for 8 to 12 weeks would be my next choice ( see 'Newcastle Diet' or Dr Moseley's Blood Sugar diet etc.).

Thanks for that advice. i am still considering my options at the moment. i will research the diets you mentioned.
