Type 2
Hi my name is Debs. I am type 2 diabetic and cannot get my blood sugars below 15 Please HELP ME GUYS

Hi Debs, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you been diagnosed long, and are you on any medication for your diabetes? I would highly recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter. These might help you to get a better understanding of your diabetes and how to control things better 🙂 Do you test your levels before and after eating?

What sort of things are you eating? Many people find that following a low GI/GL diet is helpful as it uses principles that mean fod is digested slowly and steadily, so causes fewer 'spikes' in blood glucose levels. The GL Diet for Dummies is a good introduction. Combined with thos though, it's also a good idea to follow an efficient testing schedule, ao that you can see how your levels respond to different food - this can vary a lot from person to person. Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S describes an efficient method.

Are you able to get much exercise? Exercise will help the medications you are taking work much better, reducing insulin resistance and lowering levels. If you need to lose weight, then this can also help a great deal. 🙂

Hi thank you. I am not really any good at forums and can never understand how they work. I really need a helpful figure get my sugars down. I have already had to have my 2 big toenails off. I have a fungal infection on my foot and have the early stages of diabetic retinopathy failure in my left eye, I have given up alcohol which I embarrassingly admit was a problem can you help?

Debbie firstly welcome to the forum.
Secondly what are you eating and
thirdly why are you not on insulin?

Type 2's can be on insulin as well.

It's especially used where the pancreas has failed to the point that the normal oral medicines are not keeping you in good control.

rampipril

Hi

I was on rampipril for a bit -- I got a chest infection in about September coughed all winter blaming the chest infection -- and repeat chest infections - then was told about rampipril cough stopped taking them and within a few days stopped coughing -- just a thing to keep in mind -- given the winter I had I would not wish that on anyone else.
Regards Andrew
