Hello, for some reason I've not been here before. I only really realised there was a whole other set of forums after hunting for information about Roy Taylor's research at Newcastle. So here I am...
Based in Oxford, diagnosed type two about a decade ago and put on Metformin (2g) and eventually also Sitagliptin (250mg) but never stuck with them until I got a new doctor in February this year who got quite angry with my numbers taken in January (11.5% glucose and such like).
So I took some radical decisions this year, being my 50th year and wanting to see 60, got exercising, went on initially a sort of LCHF (though not keto - I've been vegan since the beginning of the year so it's harder to stick to) and got my numbers down to 4.2% in July. Risen a little since as I'd moved onto pulses (lentil curries and so on). And have just started the "8 week blood sugar diet" to try and both take off extra weight and to get glucose really under control. Looking good so far!
