Hello, for some reason I've not been here before. I only really realised there was a whole other set of forums after hunting for information about Roy Taylor's research at Newcastle. So here I am...

Based in Oxford, diagnosed type two about a decade ago and put on Metformin (2g) and eventually also Sitagliptin (250mg) but never stuck with them until I got a new doctor in February this year who got quite angry with my numbers taken in January (11.5% glucose and such like).

So I took some radical decisions this year, being my 50th year and wanting to see 60, got exercising, went on initially a sort of LCHF (though not keto - I've been vegan since the beginning of the year so it's harder to stick to) and got my numbers down to 4.2% in July. Risen a little since as I'd moved onto pulses (lentil curries and so on). And have just started the "8 week blood sugar diet" to try and both take off extra weight and to get glucose really under control. Looking good so far!

Welcome to the forum glad you found us.
Sounds like you are making great progress. Love the hat!

Thanks! Sadly the hat now needs replacing - it got a bit mouldy! But yeah, it's been quite a year after ignoring/denying it for the best part of a decade.

Hi Jock and welcome to the forum🙂. Great to see you are getting to grips with it and the reduction in BG is brill.

I made myself a promise to make changes for my fiftieth birthday. The first was to go vegan in January in the expectation that that would improve my health in itself. Then the shock of the doctor getting mad with me in March made me really start to take things seriously and it seems to have paid off so far. If nothing else there have been times that I had forgotten how good I could feel - energy levels, sleep exercise etc! Only regret is not doing it earlier now!

Hi Jock, Welcome. I’m glad you saw that doc who helped you get on tract.
It’s great when you start feeling well again and having more energy isn’t it.

Welcome Jock from a fellow T2, coming up to 54, and three years in.

Hi Jock, glad you found us. Hopefully the forum will be another helpful influence. Sounds like you’re doing really well already.

Welcome Jock in Oxford, I am a Roy Taylor fan too. I have met him & he is a good bloke from my piece of the world. 🙂

Welcome to the forum.🙂
