Hi all,

Oops this is my 3rd post in these forums, sorry! Only just saw the "say hello here" bit...

I'm Cate, I've been type 1 since 1984 and pumping for the last 5 years. Am married, have a daughter and another baby on the way. I have had retinopathy for the last 5 years (caused by starting the pump - very rapid improvement in blood sugars too much for eyes to cope with!) but fortunately one at a time and it's now stable following laser treatment and a vitrectomy in one eye.

Anyway, hi everyone!

Cate.

Good evening cate and welcome to the forum congrats on your pregnancy , if you aint spotted it already the pregnancy section is great on here theres a few expectent mothers on the forum everyone of them are always full of good advice and tips, how far gone are you? x

Hi Cate and welcome!:D

What pump do you have? My son (11) has just started on the medtronic and we love it - his hba1c has gone down from 9.6 to 8 in three months and we are hoping to get it down to a good 6.🙂Bev

Thanks!

I'm 28 weeks now, and planning for delivery via elective section at 36 weeks or thereabouts...8 weeks to go and NOTHING is ready 😱

I'll have a scout round the pregnancy bit as well.

Hi Cate, welcome to the forum!🙂 We have a real mixture of people here, so looking forward to hearing from you - and congratulations on you pregnancy, we have several expectant mothers here currently so I'm sure they'd love to hear from you!

I've got the Medtronic and love it too - Paradigm 722, the one with the bigger reservoir. The one I had before was the old version of the same pump, it didn't have a bolus wizard or anything, this one has been a revalation!

I wish pumps had been an option when I was a kid - the first 10 years I was on two injections a day and there was no guidance about correcting high blood sugars at all, just moans about rubbish HbA1cs at clinic 🙄 mum and I just figured it out for ourselves, more or less.

Hi cate,

Just wanted to say welcome to the forum and come and join us pregnant ladies in the pregnancy section with any news if you'd like to share some. I'm 36 weeks 5 days myself.

Emma x

Hi Cate,

Welcome to the site! Looks like I'll be picking your brains for information soon as I'll be starting on a pump in eighty four days (yes, I am doing a count down!) after thirteen years of needles and just about every treatment under the sun. I even remember the old two jabs a day when I was first diagnosed. God those were the bad old days!
I'm sure your experience will be of great value to the site and all who are on here.

Tom
