Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello to all !
My name is John ( John in Portuguese )
My story is as follows :

From 18 September 20012 , was admitted with blood glucose of 525 .
Over 3 years since I was diabetic without knowing .

In 2010 he had made some tests in a clinical order of the family doctor , and when he was to deliver the test results to my doctor was always low , and only after a two and a half years is that when he returned to work and had received the test results from the clinic who at the time was already 400 glucose , however spent more than two years , had already fired 525 for glucose .

My luck was in at the time was chubby , but still lost about 30 pounds .
I had surgery in 2009 , and has made a circumcision at the time was a diabetic , but the analysis that I took to be operated , the doctors did not care .

And during that time did not know who was diabetic , had a week without seeing .

I know it was a sign of blindness .

Currently , I'm diabetic neuropathy and neuropathic pain .

I have severe neuropathic pain , which put me in a wheelchair for about five months . I have confirmation from my doctor that at any time I can go back to not being able to walk .
'm Slowly losing feeling in your feet .

- I do 5 daily measurements
- 5 x I apply insulin day, 6 times supper when the value is above 160 .
-I have to apply insulin even though my values are normal.
- I do control everything as .

I am currently enrolled to get the insulin pump but it is not easy even being sick priority .

I have all the conditions to have a .

The number of bombs dropped due to cuts on my parents.

My brother is there to live in England and would like to know what advantages do I have to go live with him , because I 'm thinking ah some time to do this ?
In my country there is no support / subsidy for those with diabetes.

In England I am entitled to some subsidy / support to be of type 1 diabetes and also suffer from diabetic neuropathy and neuropathic pain ?

How does insulin pumps here in England , any type 1 diabetic , can easily get the bomb ?

I sympathise with you and your condition but our laws on healthcare are being changed soon for this very reason, They are calling it health tourism.

It would be nice if the rest of Europe took the same approach to healthcare that we do but unfortunately we seem to be having to conform to European rules which are about free markets and private companies, rather than them trying to raise their standards to ours.

Hi joao, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have experienced. I think if you were to come and live with your brother you would be expected to find work before you could take advantage of the health care system here. The system we have is very good on the whole, although it does have some problems. Money is tight, as it is everywhere. People with diabetes get free drugs and equipment to help them deal with their condition, but something as expensive as an insulin pump is still only offered to a few. It can take many months to get a pump and you would have to meet some very tough criteria before it would be approved for you. I think it would be even harder for a person from another country to get one from the health system - maybe impossible.
