For 4 days I have now been injecting insulin along side tablets until levels go down.since then my pai inknees is like torture at night and few hours after doing injection.i can't think what else it can be.awaiting surgery on knee.this pain seems to be lot worse since doing injections.scared to do today's but know I should.wont operate unless levels are down.i can't excercise as knees too painful to walk.need advice

I think its one for your gp...i'm on 2 insulins and can't say i've had any side effects. Perhaps they can try you on a different insulin? What insulin are you taking? May be tablets, or tablet insulin interreaction? Perhaps ask pharmacist, they sre really hot on drug interactions

The introduction of insulin could have resulted in a rapid drop in blood glucose and that can cause nerve pain or issues with your eyes. What are your blood glucose levels like and how much drop have you had.
But definitely speak to your doctor or whoever prescribed the insulin.

If you are awaiting surgery the pain is more likely to be due to the reason you need the surgery. Before I had my knee replacement I used to get bad pain, though I am not an Insulin user.

Welcome @christine smith Could it be to do with the position you sit/stand in to do the injection rather than the injection itself, if you see what I mean? And what insulins are you taking (full names including any numbers or letters)?

Hello,

Welcome to this forum.
Are you saying you have knee issues & they won’t operate on your legs till you have satisfactory BG levels.
And now you are prescribed insulin?

What insulins are you prescribed?

No won't operate on knee until diabetic sugar levels are reduced as takes longer to heal.i am on hamelin kwik pen

Yes, there can be a “BG window” for procedures.
Though, I’ve not needed a knee op. (It was something else.)

Are you on fixed doses? Which one, Humulin “R” or “N?”

What’s the full name of the insulin? There are various types of Humulin and they do different things. There will be letter or/and numbers after the word Humulin.

For example, is the full name Humulin i? (That last letter is a small letter i not a number 1).
