Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello everyone, I have just joined to hopefully to get support.
I was diagnosed about 8 years ago and have been pretty good at controlling my sugar levels until recently. So as a little concerned as to what’s happening I thought it would be a good idea to hear how others are managing their own diabetes.

Hello @Tafflin and Welcome,
I'm an insulin dependent T3c, so can't really help you with T2, but I'm sure someone will pick up on your thread soon. Meanwhile if you'd like to tell us a little more about yourself, such as what meds you are on and what your HbA1c was on diagnosis as well as what it is now. Also when did your management of your sugars start to go astray? There's loads of experience within this forum and no question is stupid - no judgement, just people who've wrestled with the multitude of the confusions of Diabetes!

Hi. I cannot recall what my numbers were on diagnosis as was pre diabetic for few years before hand. I’m pretty well controlled which has been a good sign. Was on Metaformin for several years until my body reacted to it, so now I don’t take anything and try to keep to a healthy diet if I can. Easier said than done though.

Hi @Tafflin, if you are 'a pretty well controlled T2' then you should have an HbA1C in the pre-diabetic range or even the non-diabetic range like lots of us in here.
A healthy diet for a T2 diabetic isn't much like what most people think of as a 'healthy diet'. Tropical fruits and fruit juice are problematic, whole grains are almost as bad as refined ones etc.

I have been diagnosed as diabetic 2 but I can no longer take medication as I react to it…

As you are unable to take medication diet is going to be an important factor so you may find this link helpful in putting a new perspective on a low carb dietary approach. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
Many do find that they can manage to reduce and manage blood glucose levels by diet only.

Welcome to the forum @Tafflin

Good to hear your numbers have been pretty well behaved until quite recently.

Sorry to hear you had a reaction to one of the meds you were offered. There seem to be a bewildering array these days though, if you find your body needs a little extra support 🙂

But yes, in the meantime a few tweaks and changes to your menu can be a very powerful intervention 🙂

unfortunately most meds attack my bladder and I have no solution to why this happens.
